Welcome

Hello - Troppo is a Dublin-based drama group that has been presenting drama for the last 25 years. Like a lot of groups, we have gone through Darwin’s theory of evolution – we originally emerged from the primordial swamp thinking we were further along the scale than we actually were, developed a lot through the wonderful competition that is the All-Ireland Drama Festival for many years, slowly adapted to the artistic environment and are now concentrating on presenting good quality drama in theatres throughout Dublin. As a species we’ve survived – a bit battered and bruised but with lots of good memories and – thankfully - quite a few fans.  

My names is Laura Dowdall and I am the Artistic Director – which, as you know, is the job that involves all the responsibility and none of the glory. And if Troppo has a philosophy or an artistic leaning, it is to intersperse our regular offerings of classic texts for second level students with demanding theatre
